Digital Fashion Studio Project II
For the second project of my Digital Fashion class, we had to create a bag, doesn’t matter what size, what’s the purpose, what age, for men or women. So I imagine making this bag for skaters, especially for the skaters in Place de la République. I also imagined a beautiful story for this bag.
Skater’s Bag Spring Summer 2015
Each spring in Paris, staters from République join together after four months of winter, to bath under the warm sun and to enjoy the green leaves sprouting from trees. These skaters have a common nickname – the République skaters. Every year at this time, they form a comittee to design a skater’s bag for themselves to use throughout the whole year. The skater’s bag has to be practical, chic, spacious, and convenient for their everyday use. This year, street style designer, Terry Zeng, came up with an idea from the inspiration of a tea bag. Zeng made an revolutional change to many elements of the tea bag, adding decorations and features, to make it practical and convenient for those who skate from district to disctrict in Paris.
For practicality, convenience, and elegance, the designer included many useful features while maintaining the bag’s cool look. On the leather, one would find it as open pockets in the front and the back. The leather strap serves also for the purpose of a water bottle holder. One might worry how the bag opens for it looks complicated and inconvenient. However, skaters can simply unbuckle but metal buckle on the flap to unattach the string, so there’s no need to pull the strings out the holes. After freeing the clap, one can clip open the leather flap and unroll the rest of the bag. One will find plenty of space in the bag for books, laptops, and even a tiny skateboard!
