Good Friend Leaving Paris = The End of Summer
30 Sept 2015
Paris has been sunny straight for 6 or 7 days, quite bizarre for the infamously rainy fall. Esther and I gathered again like we used to during summer in Place de la République. Today, she returns back to Hamburg, Germany.
Esther’s return to Germany makes me realize how fast time flies. She’s been here for two months. I can recall seeing her the first day of summer school, hearing this girl talking in African French and decent English, and her introducing to me that she travels back and forth from Berlin to Hamburg. I want to say it really my pleasure and luck to have met someone like her who has similar interests as me. Frenglish was our common language; my courage to speak French was boosted because of talking to her everyday in Frenglish. She’s a girl beyond “nice;” she’s positive, optimistic, patient, lovely, and she would never judge you. I am glad that we both fell in love for the city of Paris that turned into a playground for our summer.
I won’t forget the summer time we have spent together, the time we “se la couler douce” in République, the time we had classes together every morning, the time we both put out feet into the cool lake water in Bassin de la Villette, the time when we tried talking to French people in bars and many many more lovely moments with her.
Esther, I hope that you will stay amazing as you are right now in the future. Hold the tears, because the game has not ended yet. We will one day reunite either in New York, Paris or Berlin. I promise you.
