As we are entering fall, a group of us decided to go to Parc Astérix yesterday to relieve our stress from classes. To be honest, I totally didn’t know who Astérix is until I saw the cartoon images. Obviously Astérix is a cartoon character that exists deep in every French person’s childhood.
We expected the sky to be more clear, but it was still covered with thick clouds as usual. Fortunately it was pretty warm during the day so it wouldn’t be too bad if we want to do any of the wet roller coasters.
Sandra, Jamie, Megan and I met up at Gare du Nord in the morning and we took the RER B to airport Charles de Gaulle terminal 1. We then transferred to a shuttle straight to Parc Astérix. The price for the entrance and the round trip shuttle ride was 48 euros for adults.
The theme park was beautiful when all the leaves are turning brown. I thought I would miss seeing the fall sceneries in Blue Mountain in the United States, but I guess fall in Paris is even better. The trees blend really well with the surrounding, the architecture and the ambiance.
Because it’s fall, everything is closing earlier so we were rushing to do as many roller coaster rides as possible. We also did some fun rides without challenges.
We also tried all the challenging rides, including this one called Gouderix. I just wish that the rides could be a little longer like the ones in Six Flags.
I really like how the theme park not only had the theme of Astérix, but also different sections representing Greek mythologies and Egypt. The halloween theme is also well incorporated into the theme park. There were haunted houses, outdoor horror shows, and many creepy little things.
Us four took a group photo before we all got wet. Finally, at the end of the day, we decided to ride the water roller coasters. It was really fun, except that we were all soaking wet.
It was a really fun day. We left Parc Astérix at around 6:15 in the afternoon. I am so thankful that once I got home, my host family made me a warm pot-au-feu meal. It was the best thing you can have after getting cold and soaked.
