Modern and Empowering Collection from Yuna Yang SS17
I was skimming through a book at GiGi NYC’s after NYFW party today about Vogue Magazine’s covers throughout the years. It was astonishing how much women have changed from inside out in the past centuries. Sorry that I don’t have photos to show, but you may imagine this – from corset and lace dresses to minimalistic cuts of 2016, a new definition of how a “modern women” should dress immerse every season. Women in 2016, after tough fights for gender equality and liberalism, gave new definition to beauty and fashion, allowing wide-ranging creativity in women’s fashion. In Yuna Yang, we see a playful mix of conservative and liberal cutting, with bold and striking colors in a down-to-earth practicality. The designer honors timeless beauty icons like Donna Karen and Maye Musk, who embrace their grey hair to lead in the category of “new beauty.” Yuna Yang’s new collection empowers strong women through clothing.
This season marks Yuna Yang’s 6th year in New York and her 12th season showcasing her designs in New York Fashion Week. As someone who received her initial degree in Fine Arts in Korea, then completed design studies at Milan, later received a second B.A. in London, and finally launched her brand in New York, Yuna Yang is the definition of a global fashion designer.
